Hufu

Hufu is the name of a soy-based product designed to resemble human flesh (in taste and texture): "Healthy Human Flesh Alternative".









According to the producer's website, human flesh has the "taste and texture of beef, except a little sweeter in taste and a little softer in texture. Contrary to popular belief, people do not taste like pork or chicken".






Armin Meiwes (and we can trust this guy in that matter) says human flesh has a taste of pork. By the way, Armin Meiwes has turned vegetarian: "He finds the idea of factory farming as distasteful as his crime was". (source)

From a documentary The Man who ate his Lover (2004), we learn about Meiwes' literary taste as well:

Macabre returns

I mentioned this American band before, but described it as extreme metal.

Well, I was wrong: indeed they play murder metal. They have a brand new site on myspace, hence we know, that Macabre blends elements of true crime, math rock, nursery rhymes, punk, thrash, folk melodies, death metal, jazz fusion, black metal and more into an energetic, catchy and unmistakable amalgam, refers to Macabre's signature style.

Rwandan Eugenics

Rwanda to revise a draft law which it said would introduce compulsory HIV testing and require all people with mental disabilities to be sterilized…



The draft legislation would oblige the Rwandan government to “suspend fertility for mentally handicapped people,” the rights group said.



“Systematic forced sterilization had been recognised as a crime against humanity by the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court,” it said.



It is beyond profoundly disturbing when a country subject to socio-political eugenics that led to a genocide drafts legislation for a forced sterilization program.

Three generations of imbeciles are enough

The fourth child of Wioletta Woźna (42) has been taken away from her after social workers declare, that "the house is untidy, the floor is not swept, the dishes dirty, crumbs of bread on the table, the woman is unresourceful, her partner works in the field and doesn't help her much. The court states, that the woman is handicapped, and the father is 63 year old".

However, there's something more: after coming back from hospital, the woman discovers, she had been sterilized without her consent during the cesarean. Read the article (in English) here (please note, she was not a surrogate mother, as the article states, but that is not important).



This happened a couple of weeks ago in Poland. It was just one of many cases of women, whose children were taken away from them on grounds of their low IQ. See for instance these two articles:

Supreme Court Justice, Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. wrote in 1927:




We have seen more than once that the public welfare may call upon the best citizens for their lives. It would be strange if it could not call upon those who already sap the strength of the State for these lesser sacrifices, often not felt to be such by those concerned, in order to prevent our being swamped with incompetence. It is better for all the world, if instead of waiting to execute degenerate offspring for crime, or to let them starve for their imbecility, society can prevent those who are manifestly unfit from continuing their kind. The principle that sustains compulsory vaccination is broad enough to cover cutting the Fallopian tubes. [...] Three generations of imbeciles are enough. (source)

The British version of the Cannibal Butcher urban legend turns Kebab style:




Well, the infamous first ever winner of the Mr Gay UK contest also tried tried some Mediterranean flavouring (quoted from The Sun):


"Having killed the victim Morley carved away a piece of flesh, took it downstairs to his kitchen where he seasoned it, fried it and tried to eat it. [...] From a chopping board on one of the kitchen units, six pieces of cooked flesh which had been seasoned with fresh herbs and fried in olive oil were recovered."


It's difficult to say what led Anthony Morley in his culinary experiences, but the name of Armin Meiwes comes instantly to mind (look here).


The latter has inspired a few movies and episodes so far, but most of the times he is referred to in a charmingly grotesque form. In Three and Out, he turns French chef:




In an episode of The IT Crowd, the German cannibal is well-mannered, cultivated and absolutely harmless:





The only attempt to focus on Meiwes' case in a more serious manner was probably Grimm Love (a.k.a. Rohtenburg). The end result however is a mixture of pretentious monologues, infantile psychology, ridiculous make-ip (see below) all concocted in an incongruous dish. Meiwes himself didn't like the movie (it was banned by a German court for infringing his personal rights). BTW the first image in this post comes from the same film...

Haarmann's Sausages part 4

The sculpture above is one of a series of Haarmann ispired statues proposed by Austrian artist Afred Hrdlicka to the city of Hanover. 

Maria Tatar notes in her book Lustmord:

Much as collective cultural memory has excluded Fritz Haarmann from the historical record and preserved his deeds in the popular imagination as something closer to lore than to fact, it was impossible to eradicate his real-life existence entirely. Of late, the Haarmann case has attracted a certain amount of notoriety , but, in one instance at least, the effort to remember turned into what was perceived to be a scandalous attempt to commemorate his deeds. In Haarmann's native city of Hanover, Alfred Hrdlicka proposed erecting a monument to Haarmann - a statue that would be a provocation to be sure - but with hope of provoking thought. It goes without saying that the plan was never approved, but Hrdlicka still had the chance to articulate what it was that made Haarmann worthy of memorialization. Haarmann's offenses lay at the heart of "the enigmas of a nation," Hrdlicka declared. "Haarmann the mass murderer... was not only a lightning flash revealing the state-sanctioned mass murderers that were to come; his antisocial preoccupations and drives were, above all, what made him a prototype of his time."
